Lovat Arms Hotel - About Us
The Lovat Arms Hotel welcomes you to Fraser Country. This stylish family owned hotel is situated in the beautiful bustling village of Beauly, some 12 miles from the Highland capital Inverness. Clan Fraser of Lovat is the principal clan in the area and their local history extends back to the 13th Century. The wide rectangular market square, once the scene of cattle fairs was planned by Baron Lovat circa 1840.
Always a beautiful sheltered area, the name Beauly is probably derived from the French “Beau Lieu” (beautiful place). There is a story that Mary Queen of Scots first named it when she stayed in Beauly Priory which was built in 1230.
The firth is a haven for seals, dolphins and all kinds of sea birds. The River Beauly is famous for its salmon. All around Beauly is the natural grandeur and beauty of the Highlands.
Wonderfully central, with Inverness on our doorstep for shopping and fine theatre, and the fine beaches of Nairn only a few miles further east. Inverewe Gardens, Gairloch, Ullapool, the Island of Skye – the whole east, west and north coasts are within comfortable driving distance.
For those wishing to get married in this area the beautiful Belladrum Temple is only 15 minutes away from the Lovat Arms Hotel
The Lovat Arms is truly your home away from home in the Highlands.
